Win a gift basket full of summer goodies! Write us a story based on one of the prompts below and submit to the ACDL Branch near you between May 21st and July 16, 2026.
To Enter:
- Entries accepted Thursday, May 21 - Thursday, July 16.
- Submissions can be dropped off at the circulation desk at the Ashtabula Public Library and at the Geneva Public Library, or be submitted using the form to the right.
- One entry per person.
- Three age groups:
- Ages 6-10 – Up to 1,500 words, handwritten or typed (illustrations welcome)
- Ages 11-17 – Up to 3,000 words, typed (illustrations welcome)
- Ages Adult – Up to 4,500 words, typed (illustrations welcome)
- Can submit a story, poem, or comic.
- Submissions must be clearly labeled with the writer’s name, age (if 18 and under), and phone number.
- Submissions cannot be returned.
- Writing needs to be appropriate for all audiences and for display at the library.

A Day in the Life of a Dinosaur: Imagine you are a dinosaur for a day. What do you do? What do you eat? Where do you live?
The Whispering Fossil: A paleontologist discovers a fossil that hums softly at night. When held, it reveals flashes of a prehistoric world—and a warning.
The Buried Library: An earthquake reveals the entrance to an underground library filled with books written in a language no one has ever seen—except you.
