Mike Thornton is the Ashtabula Branch and Digital Resources Manager. He helps guide the work at the Ashtabula Branch Library and oversees the library’s website and digital services. Mike also supports the staff who handle technology and leads the Tech and Adult Programming Teams.

Before joining Ashtabula Public Library in 2019, Mike worked for several years at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, served as Director of the Loudonville Public Library, and later led the Defiance Public Library System.

Mike grew up in Hilliard, Ohio, and graduated from Hilliard Darby High School. He earned his degree in History from The Ohio State University and his Master’s in Library and Information Science from Kent State University.

Mike is passionate about using technology to make the library’s resources easier to find and enjoy. He loves finding new ways to share the library’s story and connect more people with all the library has to offer.
