Matt Butler

Matt Butler has served as the Director of the Bachelor of Social Work program at Kent State University and maintained a private counseling practice since January of 2023. He is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, Ohio Chapter, currently sitting on its Ethics Committee.

Before starting at KSU, Butler worked at Community Counseling Center for 18 years in various positions culminating in 9.5 years as a Clinical Supervisor. In the past, he has also taught in an adjunct capacity for Case Western Reserve University and Youngstown State University.

Matt is passionate about reading, learning, and the power of collective impact. He lives in Ashtabula with his wife of 21 years and his two dogs.
