Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Library Materials Policy

Last Updated

Patrons with lost or damaged items will be required to reimburse the library for the cost of replacement. The patron may keep the damaged material after paying replacement costs and any applicable fees. The library does not accept replacement copies of damaged or lost items due to the difficulty in matching editions.

If a patron files a police report for stolen materials and provides a copy to the library, the patron is responsible for only up to $50.00 of the cost of the stolen material.

The replacement charge for lost or damaged library materials is the list price as cited in library item records plus any applicable fees. Consideration is not given for the age or condition of the material. Collection development staff will replace items at their discretion.
