Through the holiday weekend, ACDL is going to be changing to a new email service. Our ability to receive email communications will be temporarily interrupted through the long weekend. If you need to reach us, you are advised to give us a call. Have you heard about AI apps like CHATGPT? You can ask a computer natural questions just like you were chatting with a close friend and they will give you answers based on what it finds on the internet. When I design posters, I almost always use Canva, which has a generative AI feature that creates images based on your descriptions. There are also apps that allow users to invent both sides of a text conversation and pass it off as a genuine conversation.

We will be hosting a conversation about how these emerging technologies work, what sort of clues give them away, and how they can be used to fool us. Misinformation and Disinformation change our interpretation of news items, and may hold sway over our decision-making process. Bring questions and we will ask the computers to see what they say about the world around us.
