Due to the sustained rise in COVID-19 cases in the county, administration at the Ashtabula County District Library (ACDL) is embracing the stay-at-home health advisory recommendations announced by the Ashtabula County Health Department on Friday, November 20th. In an effort to ensure the health and safety of both staff members and visiting patrons, ACDL buildings will be closed to regular patron traffic beginning Monday, November 23rd.

“I think we all sensed these changes to library operations would become necessary,” said Penny Neubauer, Director at ACDL. “Unfortunately, the time has arrived. We will continue to provide a full range of library services, we will just be implementing them from a distance.”

While the buildings are not open for regular browsing, ACDL will still be offering all of its services including notary service, printing and faxing services, and 30 minute laptop sessions in the meeting rooms. Calling ahead for these services is recommended to ensure staff and equipment availability.

ACDL is still offering curbside pickup for held items and free express home delivery to all patrons within the service area. To take advantage of these services, simply email or call either library branch: Ashtabula (440-997-9341) or Geneva (440-466-4521).

While the buildings may be closed to regular patron visits, the Digital Branch is always open. Patrons may enjoy ebooks, audio books, movies and television from popular streaming services such as Hoopla Digital, Kanopy, and the Ohio Digital Library. There is also an extensive selection of databases that patrons may access from home through the ACDL portal on its website ( Virtual programming is also available on the ACDL Facebook page and Youtube page.

Patrons may also take advantage of access to through the library to enhance your skills with over 16,000 expert-led, online video tutorials covering a wide range of business; technology; and professional skills.

The staff at both locations will be available to assist patrons, Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm, and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays. New library card registration is also available virtually by visiting the Library website.
