Information for Grant-seekers

Foundation Center of New York    ACDL hosts a "Cooperating Collection" of resources from this organization, which is widely recognized as the authoritative source for information about the business of philanthropy. There are numerous printed publications (some of which circulate), but its main feature is a searchable database of approximately 100,000 foundations in the US which make grants... mostly to non-profit organizations, though a few support individual scholars, artists and scientists. The database is available on public computers (or your laptop, if you bring it with you) at Ashtabula Library only. Our Reference Department Librarians can provide a brief introduction, and the Foundation Center itself offers some free training modules on its website.
Grantspace   This website, a service of the Foundation Center, offers information and resources that are specifically designed to meet the needs of grantseekers. It is the place for grantseekers to explore in-depth content, engage with a community of peers and experts and to energize their fundraising efforts with video recordings, podcasts, live help, and more.   Federal government resource that allows agencies to apply for multiple federal grant funds through one site.
Just Grants Ohio    An informational and interactive resource center for and about the nonprofit community, featuring data about private foundation activities that may be of interest to grantseekers, philanthropic organizations, and individual donors.
Philanthropy Front and Center    A blog from the Foundation Center's Cleveland office highlighting grants and grantmakers, and the work of the Foundation Center and other nonprofit organizations in Northeast Ohio and beyond.
The Chronicle of Philanthropy    An online publication useful for keeping up with current events and trends in the industry. There is some "premium content" for which you must subscribe, but most of what's there is freely available.
Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training    Find out what other organizations are doing to raise money and manage their nonprofits at the same time by reading Grassroots. The online version only permits viewers to read the feature article, but visitors may sign up for the e-newsletter.
The NonProfit Times    An informative monthly newspaper for nonprofits with articles on trends and developments in the field. Free subscription available for full time U.S. nonprofit executives, but there's useful information available here without subscribing.
National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy    Another source for news on the nonprofit sector, with special attention to philanthropic accountability.
The Nonprofit Quarterly   Themed magazines about managing a nonprofit. Sign up for the monthly E-Newsletter to receive updates on hot topics and new happenings in the nonprofit world.
