Borrower Information
Rules for borrowing material from ACDL Libraries.

  1. The Ashtabula County District Library (ACDL) consists of the Ashtabula Public Library, the Geneva Public Library, and the County Bookmobile.

  2. Library cards are available for Adults and Juveniles.

    • Adult cards, for patrons 18 years old and older.

    • Juvenile cards, for patrons younger than 18 years old, do not allow the card holder to borrow videos.

  3. Children under the age of 18 must have the signature of a parent or legal guardian on the registration form, as well as address verification.

  4. There is no charge for the first Library Card for people who live, work, or own property in Ashtabula County, Ohio.  This card entitles the user to borrow material the member libraries of the Council of Ashtabula County Libraries (CACL) consortium.

  5. Replacement library cards cost $1.00 and are available at any ACDL branch.

  6. Ohio residents that do not live, work, or own property in Ashtabula County may borrow ACDL materials through the inter-library loan (ILL) department of their local library.

  7. People who do not live in Ohio may purchase a non-resident fee card for $25.00 (non-refundable).  This fee entitles the entire family to use the resources of the ACDL system.

  8. Special cards are available for specific situations, such as Bookmobile Student, Bookmobile Teacher, Institution, Senior Citizen, Teacher, and Temporary accounts.  To apply for a special Library Card, please visit your nearest ACDL Library.

  9. Overview of loan periods and overdue items ...

    • Borrowers are expected to return library materials on or before the due date.  Overdue notices are sent as a courtesy.  Non-receipt of a notice does not eliminate liability for outstanding materials or fines.

    • Most print library material may be borrowed for two (2) weeks.  A one-week grace period applies, after which overdue fines accrue at 10 cents per day per item.

    • Most video library material may be borrowed for 3 days.  No grace period is in effect after that point, and overdue fines accrue at one dollar per day per item.

    • A complete listing of circulation periods and overdue charges is available from your nearest ACDL Branch.
