Leander Lyon was a former druggist in Conneaut,
Ohio. He collected old and rare books, as well
as maintaining a lending library at his
business. He became fascinated with the phonetic
spelling movement that was sweeping the country at
that time.

set of the "Phonetic Teacher," a quarterly
periodical subscribed to by proponents of the
movement.
Front Row. This attractive little book
is a "First Reader" of the phonetic
movement.
