The Development Fund of the
Ashtabula County
District Library, established in 1985 by the Library Board of Trustees, is to
assist the growth and advancement of quality Library services for the
Ashtabula Public Library, Geneva Public Library, and the County
Bookmobile. |

| Purpose: To solicit funds
from businesses and individuals for the benefit
of the Ashtabula community through the funding of
projects and programs of the Library system. |

| Accomplishments: 1.5 million dollar
renovation on the Ashtabula Library building
completed in 1992. New 17,000 sq. ft. Geneva
Branch was completed in 1997, made possible by
passage of a 1.5 million bond. The new County
Bookmobile was purchased in 2006, the third mobile library since
the programs inception in 1958. Each year, the
Bookmobile typically serves elementary schools, senior centers,
daycares, and the Amish community around Ashtabula County. |

| Future Goals: New building for
the Ashtabula Library, automation upgrade,
digitalization of local history collection,
expansion/addition and a new roof/HVAC for the Geneva Branch
Library. |

| Automation: Ashtabula County
District Library is a member of the Council of Ashtabula County
Libraries, which passed a levy in
1993 to automate the eight individual libraries
in Ashtabula County. The project to automate the
Ashtabula and Geneva Libraries was completed in
the fall of 1996. The County Bookmobile was
brought online in summer 1997. In December 2002,
the libraries migrated to the Horizon automation
system. In 2008, the libraries plan to review and upgrade
the automation system. |

This program allows patrons and supporters of the Ashtabula
County District Library to contribute to their Library through direct
donation, either online with a credit card, or via a mail-in
Pledge Form (requires ADOBE

card, or may charge against their PayPal account. A PayPal account

Honor
with Books Program -
This program provides the opportunity for
recognizing people on special occasions with
books or other items needed by the
library. Through the Honor With Books
Program, one may honor a friend or relative upon
graduation, birth, personal achievement, or to
create lasting memorials for family members and
friends.
